Mobile Wound Care in Boynton Beach FL

Traveling to a clinic can become a serious barrier to proper wound care. Older adults, people with limited mobility, and patients living in assisted-living communities or nursing facilities often find that their wounds get over-looked because they have no one to take them to the clinic.

Missed appointments will interrupt treatment and can cause a wound to worsen between treatments.

Sunwave Wound Care drives to you. Our caring staff bring specialized wound treatment directly to your home.

Our focus is chronic wounds, non-healing wounds, and hard-to-heal wounds by offering advanced biologics that speed the healing process.

Note: Not every cut requires a wound care specialist. A recent injury with uncontrolled bleeding, a deep laceration that may need stitches, or a rapidly worsening infection requires an urgent-care center or emergency room.

When Should a Wound Be Evaluated?

Not every cut requires a wound care specialist. A recent injury with uncontrolled bleeding, a deep laceration that may need stitches, or a rapidly worsening infection requires an urgent-care center or emergency room.

A mobile wound evaluation may be appropriate when:

  • A wound has shown no improvement
  • The patient has known circulation issues
  • A pressure injury keeps reopening
  • A diabetic foot ulcer is not healing
  • Drainage, swelling, pain, or odor is increasing
  • The wound has become deeper or larger
  • Limited mobility makes regular clinic visits difficult
  • A caregiver is concerned about changes in the wound

Patients should not wait for a wound to worsen. There are many comorbidities that can interfere with the healing process such as diabetes, poor circulation, pressure, immobility, smoking, inflammation, and inadequate nutrition. We are well-experienced in treating wounds inspite of these confounding factors.

Wounds We Eval

Pressure Injuries

Pressure injuries commonly develop over the heels, hips, and tailbone, when exposed to prolonged pressure. Treatment must address both the wound and its cause. Repositioning, pressure relief, moisture management, nutrition, and caregiver participation are all be important. We provide guidance and daily visits to speed the healing of these stubborn wounds.

Diabetic Foot Ulcers

Diabetes affects circulation, immune response, and the ability for nerves to sense problems. A person with diabetic neuropathy may not feel an injury developing on their foot. Treatment includes direct care of the wound, blood-sugar management, pressure relief, and coordination with podiatry or vascular specialists.

Venous leg ulcers

Venous ulcers caused by swelling and poor blood return from the legs. We treat the wound directly while also addressing the underlying swelling and vascular condition of the leg

Arterial ulcers

Arterial ulcers are a result of inadequate blood flow. These wounds appear on the toes, feet, or lower legs. They are painful and can be dangerous.

What Happens During an In-Home Visit?

We start by evaluating why the wound remains open. During your first appointment, your provider will review the wound’s history, prior treatment, medical conditions, medications, mobility, and other factors affecting recovery.

The evaluation may include:

  • Measuring the wound’s length, width, and depth
  • Examining the wound bed and surrounding skin
  • Assessing drainage, odor, tissue condition, and pain
  • Looking for signs of pressure, infection, or poor circulation
  • Debridement to speed the healing process.
  • Treatments with grafts and biologics to speed the healing.

Infected wounds may require more care. It is our goal to lower hospital readmission rates and help you heal at home. Visit frequency depends on the treatment plan. We'll discuss your options and provide you with follow care as desired.
