For a wound that will not heal, making yet another trip to the clinic is never fun. At Sunwave we offer an alternative with our mobile wound care service. We dispatch licensed, seasoned medical providers to your home providing comfortable treatment in the familiarity of your home.
We are experts at treating hard-to-heal wounds. Chronic and non-healing wounds that require repeat treatment can now be handled at home, using the latest in biologics.
Note: We are not an acute wound treatment facility. If you are looking for stitches or care for a recent wound, please call 911 or go to your nearest emergency treatment center. We specialize in treating slow-to-heal wounds.
There is no point in treating a wound without ascertaining why it remains open.Your provider will make an in-home visit to look at the site and collect your medical history. The assessment is thorough; we will be looking at everything from the size and depth of the wound and any drainage, to the condition of the surrounding tissue.
We also take into account mobility and positioning, as well as such factors as diabetes or other lifestyle factors that slow healing healing. Any signs of infection or circulation issues are noted, along with how the wound has responded to current treatment.
From there we put together a plan of care tailored to the patient’s history and present state. This can involve debridement and cleaning, regular measurements and dressing advice, and some education for the caregiver.
We may recommend advanced care with biologic products like amniotic membrane grafts. While these are not your typical surgical skin grafts, they help the body regenerate tissue on its own and support the wound environment.
If a wound is failing to show steady improvement or keeps re-opening, it is time for a professional to have a look.
Increasing drainage , or a shift in pain, color or odor, is another indicator. Left alone, a chronic wound can become a source of infection.
We accept Aetna, United and many Medicare plans.
As an orthopedic surgeon and sports medicine specialist, Dr. Brian Goldman has a no-nonsense view of medicine. His years in surgery and the clinic made him acutely aware of the challenges patients face with chronic wounds, particularly when limited mobility makes getting to a specialist a hardship.
He set up Sunwave Wound Care to deliver modern treatment and sound medical judgment in the comfort of the patient’s home. His method is straightforward: find out what is wrong with the wound and tend to it properly, but also know when a vascular or surgical intervention at a hospital is the wiser option.
When not treating wounds, you will find Dr. Goldman outside, enjoying Pickleball at Okeeheelee Park or walking along the Espalande.
